Francisco Ordonhas reclaims national surf title in Peniche
Francisco Ordonhas, a 21-year-old surfer from Cascais, has been crowned national bicampeão after the final stage of the Liga MEO Surf 2026 at Supertubos beach in Peniche. Although Ordonhas was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Jaime Veselko, he secured the title due to the subsequent elimination of rival Guilherme Ribeiro. Ribeiro, the 2022 and 2024 champion, lost his quarter-final heat against João Roque Pinho after Pinho scored a perfect 10-point wave in the final minutes.
In addition to the national championship, the season concluded with the presentation of the inaugural Turismo do Centro Award. This new distinction, created by Turismo Centro de Portugal in partnership with the National Surfing Association, recognizes the best sub-18 surfers in the Central region. The first winners of this award are Ana Mel from Peniche and Guilherme Caetano from Aveiro, based on their performances in the Allianz Figueira Pro and the Bom Petisco Peniche Pro.
