Francisco Pelayo appointed PAN coordinator in Baja California Sur

Francisco “Pancho” Pelayo Covarrubias has been officially appointed as the Coordinator of the Defense of the Homeland, Family, and Liberty for the National Action Party (PAN) in Baja California Sur. The appointment, delivered by PAN national president Jorge Romero Herrera, is part of a broader territorial strategy to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

During his official presentation in La Paz, Pelayo addressed President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, demanding attention to critical shortages in Baja California Sur. He highlighted urgent needs regarding healthcare, potable water, and electricity supplies. Pelayo also denounced alleged political coercion, claiming that government programs are being used to pressure citizens in municipalities such as La Paz, Los Cabos, Comondú, and Loreto.

Furthermore, the legislator criticized the use of public funds for political propaganda, calling for those resources to be redirected toward medicine procurement, public security, and hospital maintenance. He also pointed to operational failures by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), noting that frequent blackouts are impacting small businesses and endangering patients who rely on medical devices.
