Francisco Reséndez, iconic voice of Scooby-Doo, dies at 85

Francisco Reséndez Novoa, a prominent Mexican voice actor and dubbing director known as ‘Don Paco’, has passed away at the age of 85. While the exact cause of death has not been publicly disclosed by his family, reports indicate he died around September 2, 2026.

Reséndez had a career spanning over six decades, leaving a significant impact on Latin American animation and dubbing. He was most widely recognized as the Spanish-language voice of Scooby-Doo during the 1970s and 1980s. Additionally, he served as the dubbing director for the first eight seasons of ‘The Simpsons’ in Latin America.

His extensive portfolio included various roles in anime and animated series, such as Commander Dot Pixis in ‘Attack on Titan’, Makarov Dreyar in ‘Fairy Tail’, and characters in ‘One Piece’, ‘Inuyasha’, and ‘Dragon Tales’. His work also extended to film dubbing for titles such as ‘Paddington’ and ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’.
