Francisco Rodríguez Morales, father of Ayotzinapa student, dies

Francisco Rodríguez Morales, the father of Everardo Rodríguez Bello—one of the 43 students from the Ayotzinapa Rural Normal School who disappeared in 2014—has passed away. His death occurred in the community of Omeapa, in the municipality of Tixtla, Guerrero.

Families and activists from the movement for justice expressed grief over his passing, noting that he died without ever learning the whereabouts of his son. Rodríguez Morales was the husband of Minerva Bello Guerrero, a prominent figure in the search for the students who died in 2018.

Representatives of the movement, including the Tlachinollan Human Rights Center, stated that they will continue to demand justice and push for investigations to advance. They specifically called for the Mexican Army to release relevant files regarding the missing students. The families also indicated plans for upcoming mobilizations in September.
