Francisco Roig implements technical changes to Iga Świątek’s playing style

Francisco Roig, a former member of Rafael Nadal’s coaching staff, has been working with Iga Świątek since April. Roig has identified several technical areas for improvement, including her second serve, court positioning, and footwork. He noted that Świątek previously stood too close to the baseline and aims to transition her playstyle toward a more composed approach that focuses on creating discomfort for opponents rather than seeking winners on every point.

Roig emphasized that while the team is still working toward the version of Świątek they desire, they are moving in the right direction. He highlighted that technical improvements and mental stability, the latter of which is managed by Daria Abramowicz, are both essential parts of their ongoing process. The coaching staff expects to see the effects of these adjustments during the upcoming WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing.
