Francisco Salamone's monumental architecture in Buenos Aires

Between 1936 and 1940, architect and engineer Francisco Salamone constructed over 60 monumental works across the Buenos Aires province. Commissioned by Governor Manuel Fresco to modernize rural infrastructure, Salamone’s work blended Art Deco, Futurism, and Expressionism into a unique style often called ‘pampas expressionism.’

These structures, which are recognized as provincial cultural heritage, include massive municipal palaces with high towers, theatrical cemetery portals, and functional slaughterhouses. Key examples of his architectural legacy can be found in municipalities such as Azul, Laprida, and Carhué.
