Franco Armani's River contract ends in 2026 as Atlético Nacional pursues his return

Goalkeeper Franco Armani, 39, is approaching the end of his contract with River Plate, which runs until December 2026. After losing his starting position to young goalkeeper Santiago Beltrán, rumours have intensified about his future.

Colombian side Atlético Nacional, where Armani was a key player from 2010 to 2018, has begun talks to bring the veteran back. River Plate president Stefano Di Carlo said Armani has not requested a move and will remain with the club until his contract expires, though the player could negotiate a new deal from July 2027.

The potential transfer hinges on negotiations that could see Armani return to Colombia after almost a decade, but River maintains that any departure will respect his contractual rights.
