Franco Baresi mural vandalized in Milan

A mural dedicated to former AC Milan captain Franco Baresi, located in the square in front of Casa Milan, was vandalized with spray paint on the evening of Sunday, September 27. The act, which defaced the artwork created by the artist Lucas.streetart, has drawn widespread condemnation from across the football community.

Former Inter Milan goalkeeper Walter Zenga, a long-time rival of Baresi on the pitch, issued a public statement condemning the act. Zenga stated that defacing Baresi’s image offends not only AC Milan and its supporters but also the history of Italian football and the concept of respect. He emphasized that the perpetrator represents only themselves rather than any specific fan group, noting that while jerseys may divide, respect should unite.

AC Milan has initiated an investigation to identify those responsible using local surveillance footage.
