Franco Bragagna Returns to Commentate at 2026 European Athletics Championships

After retiring from RAI on 1 January 2026 following more than 35 years of service, veteran Italian athletics commentator Franco Bragagna has signed a deal with Sky to return to live tele‑commentary. He will lead the broadcast of the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, scheduled for 10–16 August 2026, alongside former teammate Nicola Roggero and Olympic marathon champion Stefano Baldini.

The championships will be shown on Sky’s channels, which share rights with Rai (live on Rai 2 and RaiSport HD) and Discovery platforms (Eurosport 1‑2, Discovery Plus, HBO Max, DAZN). Bragagna’s distinctive voice, known for vivid anecdotes and cultural references, is expected to draw millions of viewers in Italy and across Europe.
