Fabrizio Corona says Alberto Stasi remains innocent in Garlasco murder case

Entrepreneur‑turned‑media personality Fabrizio Corona appeared on the podcast Radici and reaffirmed his belief that former mayor Alberto Stasi is innocent of the 2007 murder of Chiara Poggi in Garlasco. Corona asserted that the trial lacked solid evidence, stating, “Ho sempre detto che Stasi è innocente perché non poteva essere condannato. Le prove contro Stasi non ci sono mai state,” and added that “la prova definitiva non la troveranno mai.”

He criticised the Italian media for turning the case into a click‑bait spectacle, calling the coverage a “sciacallaggio” driven by share‑maximisation. Corona also recalled his own provocation during the second phase of the trial, when he turned Stasi’s lawyer into the satirical character “Jerry La Rana,” which he says went viral to expose the theatrical nature of the media narrative. According to Corona, public perception of Stasi has shifted in recent years, with many Italians now viewing him as a victim rather than a convicted murderer.
