Franco Cunico tests RSD's Fiat 131 Abarth Rally restomod
Legendary Italian driver Franco Cunico has tested the Fiat 131 Abarth Rally Gr. 4 restomod developed by the British specialist RSD Historic Motorsport. The project aims to faithfully recreate the iconic motorsport vehicle while enhancing technical precision.
The vehicle features a classic four-cylinder twin-cam engine capable of reaching 9,000 rpm, providing a raw driving experience without modern electronic driver aids or power steering. Cunico highlighted the demanding physical nature of the car, noting its precise handling, rigid chassis, and the characteristic sound of its front-gearbox system.
RSD has utilized original Abarth designs to ensure historical accuracy while improving component quality and suspension response, specifically refining the independent rear suspension and weight distribution for better power delivery.
