Franco Enriquez National Prize 2026 announces award recipients

The XXII edition of the Franco Enriquez National Prize and Festival will take place on August 30, 2026, in Sirolo. This year’s theme is ‘Theatre as a way for peace,’ focusing on the cultural and civic functions of contemporary Italian theatre.

Notable award recipients include Lino Guanciale, recognized for his ability to balance theatrical research with significant presence in cinema and television. Gabriele Vacis, alongside Compagnia PoEM, will be honored in the Classical and Contemporary Theatre category for the production ‘Sette a Tebe’ by Aeschylus. The jury highlighted the production as a ‘cry of denunciation against all wars, against all oppressions, against violence.’

Other awardees include Andrée Ruth Shammah, Gianni Forte, Milena Vukotic, and Giuliana De Sio, representing various facets of the national theatrical scene.
