Franco Petrolini, founder of Goldengas, dies at 89

Franco Petrolini, the founder and longtime president of the Italian energy group Goldengas, has passed away at the age of 89. Born in Ancona, Petrolini began his career in the LPG sector after qualifying as an accountant.

In 1965, he co-founded Goldengas alongside his brother Fabio and other entrepreneurs, officially assuming the presidency in 1969. Under his leadership, the company evolved from a regional energy provider based in Senigallia into a national group with diversified interests in healthcare and hospitality.

The Goldengas group released a statement expressing deep sorrow over his passing, praising his foresight, professional integrity, and commitment to the Marche region. Petrolini had recently reflected on his entrepreneurial journey during the company’s 60th anniversary in June 2025.
