Francophone communities mark milestones in Alberta and Argentina

The ACFA (Association Canadienne française de l'Alberta) is celebrating its centenary in 2026. Following its official founding in July 1926 in Edmonton, the organization has marked the year with various cultural events to promote the Francophone community in Alberta. According to 2021 Statistics Canada data, Alberta holds the third-largest population of French as a first official language in Canada, following Ontario and New Brunswick.

In Argentina, the second Forum of the Federation of French Associations was held in October 2026 at the Casa Fundación Medifé. The event, themed ‘The French in Argentina, a strategic asset for France,’ included participation from Ambassador Romain Nadal and a message from Eléonore Caroit, the Minister Delegate to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs. The forum aimed to strengthen the French associative network and discuss concrete actions for the community living abroad.
