Frank Cabañas released after nine years of detention in Venezuela

Frank Cabañas, a political prisoner linked to the Óscar Pérez case, was released on the night of Friday, September 25, after nine years of arbitrary detention. He had been held at the El Rodeo IV detention center.

According to the Comité por la Libertad de los Presos Políticos (CLIPPVE), Cabañas's family had repeatedly reported health issues over the past year, alleging he did not receive specialized medical attention. His release is part of a series of recent prisoner releases in Venezuela, a development that has sparked debate regarding the government's human rights strategy and international image.

While human rights organizations have welcomed the news, they noted that dozens of political prisoners remain in custody. Advocates continue to demand the release of all remaining detainees.
