Frank Gashumba offers Shs500m to pastors who can heal the sick

Ugandan businessman and commentator Frank Gashumba has increased a financial challenge to Shs500 million for any religious leader—including pastors, apostles, or prophets—who can demonstrate miraculous healing powers by treating critically ill patients in a hospital setting.

Gashumba, who previously set the stake at Shs200 million, argues that many religious leaders in Uganda operate as businesses rather than spiritual institutions. He criticized the contradiction between the claims of divine protection made by some leaders and their reliance on heavy security and luxury vehicles, while their followers often live in poverty.

He challenged these leaders to prove their abilities in a hospital of his choice, insisting the reward be paid in cash rather than by cheque. Gashumba accused certain religious figures of manipulating the public's ignorance to extort money through tithes and other means, suggesting that people should focus on personal relationships with their creator and hard work rather than supporting money-making religious enterprises.
