Frank Kendall to sue Trump administration over revoked security clearance
Former Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall announced on Monday that he intends to sue the Trump administration to restore his security clearance. The administration revoked Kendall's clearance on Friday, alleging he disclosed sensitive information regarding a Qatari-gifted jet that currently serves as Air Force One.
Kendall, who served as the head of the Air Force under President Joe Biden, has denied the allegations of disclosing classified information. He stated that he is taking legal action to stand up to what he characterized as a history of retaliation against critics by stripping their clearances.
National security attorney Mark Zaid, who has previously sued the administration following the revocation of his own clearance, confirmed that he has been hired to represent Kendall.
The legal challenge follows a series of actions by the Trump administration involving security clearances. In March 2025, an executive order designated several individuals, including former President Joe Biden and New York Attorney General Letitia James, as unsuitable to retain clearances. In August 2025, the administration revoked the clearances of 37 additional current and former national security officials.
