Frank Lloyd Wright's historic Los Angeles home faces decay

The Sturges Home, a 1939 residence in Brentwood Heights designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is facing severe deterioration due to years of neglect. As the only Usonian-style building in Los Angeles, the 1,200-square-foot landmark is at risk of “demolition by neglect,” a term used when deferred maintenance leads to permanent structural damage.

The Los Angeles Conservancy has noted visible decay in the original redwood and warping in the carport's span and pillars. Neighbors have also reported wild animals roaming inside the vacant property. In response to the building's condition, Los Angeles officials have ordered repairs to the architectural landmark.
