Frank McCourt to launch $300 million Premier Jumping League

US billionaire Frank McCourt is launching the Premier Jumping League (PJL), a new show jumping series set to debut next year. McCourt plans to distribute $300 million in prize money over the league's first three years, with an annual prize pool of $100 million per season.

This financial injection represents more than double the prize money offered by the established Global Champions Tour, which has operated for 20 years and offers approximately €36 million this season. The PJL aims to revolutionize the market through this high-stakes competition.

Approximately 180 riders have already registered for the new league, including nearly 80 percent of the top 50 riders in the world rankings. World Champion Sophie Hinners has joined the PJL as an ambassador, noting that competition can drive positive progress within the sport.
