Frank Moya Pons releases new collection on Dominican history

Historian Frank Moya Pons has released a new work titled ‘Lecturas históricas dominicanas’, a collection of prologues, introductions, and reviews written over several decades. The volume, published by the Dominican Academy of History, analyzes the work of 63 different authors and covers various periods of Dominican history, including colonial times, 19th-century political conflicts, the Trujillo Era, and democratic crises.

Moya Pons noted that the publication resulted from years of suggestions from colleagues. Although he initially hesitated due to the diverse nature of the texts, he organized the volume thematically. He suggests that these reviews can serve as a training tool for emerging historians, encouraging them to approach historical research with impartiality and objectivity.

During the book's launch at the National Museum of History and Geography, Miguel Reyes Sánchez, president of the Dominican Academy of History, emphasized that the work is not a conventional monograph but rather a dialogue between Moya Pons and other researchers.
