Frank Stronach: One sexual assault charge dropped ahead of trial

Lawyer Leora Shemesh announced that one sexual assault charge against billionaire businessman Frank Stronach has been withdrawn. The charge involved an alleged incident in York Region in 2024.

Stronach, the 94-year-old auto parts mogul, will still face a trial scheduled for next year involving five remaining complainants. He has denied all allegations against him.

In a separate Toronto trial, Stronach is currently awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of indecent assault regarding an encounter from nearly 50 years ago. Justice Anne Molloy stated that Stronach would not face a jail term for those convictions. A post-verdict mistrial was previously declared on a sexual assault conviction in that case following arguments regarding inconsistent testimony, a decision prosecutors are appealing.
