The Rookie actor Russell Sams attacked by bystander during Los Angeles filming

An actor filming for the television series ‘The Rookie’ was attacked by a bystander at Union Station in Los Angeles. Guest actor Russell Sams was performing a scene as a fleeing criminal when a passerby mistook the staged sequence for a real crime.

The individual reportedly tackled Sams to the ground and placed him in a tight chokehold, nearly causing him to lose consciousness. Sams managed to shout that the scene was fake and that his weapon was not real, at which point the attacker released him. The assailant, who was reportedly on probation following a recent release from prison, apologized, stating, ‘I thought you were a crazy person.’

Sams sustained minor injuries and scratches to his neck. The incident occurred during rush hour in a highly frequented area, causing shock among the production crew and bystanders.
