Frankenblick Hotel Group files for insolvency after major raid

Frankenblick Hotelbetriebs GmbH has filed for preliminary insolvency following a large-scale nationwide raid conducted by German federal police and customs officials. The company, which operates several hotels and holiday facilities in the Masserberg region with approximately 900 beds, is at the center of an investigation led by the Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office.

The investigation targets an alleged human smuggling gang. Suspects face charges including professional and gang-related smuggling of foreigners, document forgery, and the withholding of wages. On September 30, 2026, approximately 2,200 law enforcement officers searched over 100 locations and executed ten arrest warrants.

As a result of the investigation, the Berlin-Tiergarten District Court ordered the seizure of assets totaling approximately 106 million euros. The company's accounts have been frozen, leaving it unable to pay wages or current bills. On October 9, 2026, the Meiningen District Court appointed attorney Rolf Rombach as the preliminary insolvency administrator.
