Frankenstein legacy celebrated through new comic and Ingolstadt festival

The literary legacy of Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein’ is being celebrated through both artistic adaptation and community events. French comic artist David Sala has released a new multimedia adaptation of the classic novel, offering a unique perspective on the creature’s view of humanity and the themes of scientific responsibility and the fear of the ‘other’.

In Ingolstadt, Germany, the third ‘Frankensteintage’ festival is scheduled to run from August 21 to September 6, 2026. Organized by the newly formed Frankenstein Ingolstadt e. V., the event commemorates Mary Shelley’s birthday and International Frankenstein Day on August 30. The program includes public performances, cinema highlights at the Turm Baur open-air cinema and AUDI Programmkino, a costume competition, and various activities such as true crime readings and medical history museum screenings.
