Frankenthal court sentences man for disability fraud

The Landgericht Frankenthal has sentenced a 64-year-old man to one year and ten months in prison. The ruling, which is legally binding, follows allegations that the man continued to receive benefits from a professional association after his reported disabilities had ceased to exist.

Prosecutors alleged that the man misrepresented his medical condition to obtain approximately 95,000 euros in benefits following a 2004 traffic accident. While the defendant denied claiming to be paralyzed, arguing instead that he suffered from radiculopathy and chronic pain, the court found him guilty of fraud related to these benefits.

The sentence also accounts for additional charges, including an alleged real estate transaction involving a construction obligation that resulted in damages exceeding 225,000 euros, and the failure to disclose certain bank accounts during a declaration of assets.
