Frankfort Transit seeks to expand bus shelters and benches

Frankfort Transit is planning to expand its infrastructure, including the addition of more benches and bus shelters, in response to increasing ridership. Currently, the agency operates 129 route stops, but only 26 have shelters and 10 have benches.

Superintendent Jennifer Hall informed city leaders that the agency uses GPS passenger data and biennial passenger surveys to determine where upgrades are most needed. The agency has applied for a grant that could potentially fund 11 additional shelters. Priority for these new locations includes Arrowhead Court and Allen Way due to safety concerns, as well as Steadmantown Lane, which serves many Kentucky State University students.
