Frankfurt Main Station faces service disruptions and expansion works

Deutsche Bahn has announced significant service restrictions for Frankfurt Main Station due to ongoing construction at the Frankfurt-Stadion rail junction. Between late October and November 2, several regional and long-distance lines will face diversions, delays, or cancellations. Affected services include the RE2, RE3, RB33, RB31, RB58, RE70, and S7 lines. Some long-distance trains will be rerouted or will stop at Frankfurt-Süd instead of the main station.

In a separate long-term development, construction is preparing for the addition of a new track, Track 25, at Frankfurt Main Station. Expected to be operational by December 2028, the €40 million project aims to increase platform capacity and reduce traffic conflicts. This expansion is part of the broader ‘Rhein-Main plus’ infrastructure initiative, which includes the construction of the North Main S-Bahn, new bridges over the Main river, and a major long-distance railway tunnel.
