Frankfurt police arrest suspect in gold chain robbery

Police in Frankfurt have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with a gold chain robbery that occurred in the city center during the night of August 30, 2026.

The incident took place around 12:40 a.m. on the Ignatz-Bubis-Brücke. A suspect and an accomplice approached a 30-year-old victim under a pretext, at which point the suspect forcibly removed a gold chain from the victim's neck and handed it to his companion. The victim managed to hold onto the suspect while the accomplice fled toward Sachsenhausen with the jewelry.

A patrol team arrived shortly after and apprehended the 26-year-old suspect. He has been taken into custody and is expected to appear before a judge. The second suspect, described as a man approximately 25 years old, 170 centimeters tall, wearing a blue tracksuit with white side stripes, remains at large. Police are currently seeking witnesses to assist with the investigation.
