Judge Mark Richardson retires after decades on the bench

Local Court judge Mark Richardson has retired from his judicial duties after a long career presiding over cases in regions including Tamworth, Tenterfield, Manly, Moree, and Armidale. Richardson noted that his interest in the law was sparked by a childhood dispute regarding school rules in the United Kingdom.

During his tenure, particularly in the New England region, Richardson expressed satisfaction with the continued strength of the circle sentencing regime, which involves Indigenous Elders in round-table discussions.
