Franking Vietnam manager prosecuted for selling counterfeit stainless steel sinks

The Bac Ninh Provincial Police have initiated criminal proceedings against Nguyen Quang Thieu, the manager of Franking Vietnam Co., Ltd., for the production and trade of counterfeit goods. The investigation revealed that between 2024 and 2026, the company engaged in the sale of sanitary equipment, including kitchen sinks, faucets, and ceramic basins.

To increase profits, Thieu allegedly used a laser engraving machine to mark ‘SUS 304’ on kitchen sinks made of lower-quality 201 stainless steel. This was done to mimic the appearance of high-grade 304 stainless steel, which is more durable and rust-resistant. The counterfeit products were then packaged in cartons labeled as ‘SUS 304’ originating from China to mislead consumers regarding their actual quality and value.

Authorities noted that the company also failed to register certifications or declare conformity for these products as required by law.
