François Bayrou calls for broad political primary

François Bayrou, president of the MoDem party, has called for a political primary spanning from the right to the moderate left. Speaking at the MoDem's annual university in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Bayrou argued that a broad coalition is necessary to prevent the electoral dominance of the Rassemblement National and La France Insoumise.

Bayrou expressed concern that neither the right, the left, nor the center can govern effectively alone without a sufficiently large and legitimate majority. He emphasized that a primary should not merely be an internal camp selection, but a way to build a 'great central current.'

Former Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve attended the event and supported the call for unity and responsibility to avoid a confrontation between the two opposing political forces, though he remained cautious regarding the specific method of designation.
