François Gagnon retires after 40-year media career

Veteran Quebec media personality François Gagnon is retiring after a career spanning more than 40 years. Gagnon, who is 63, spent over 18 years with the sports network RDS, where he was a prominent figure on programs such as L'Antichambre and Hockey 360.

His career began in 1986 at CKCH in Hull, covering general news and judicial matters before transitioning to sports journalism. He spent approximately three decades covering the NHL and the Montreal Canadiens. His contributions to the field were recognized with an induction into the Quebec Hockey Hall of Fame.

Gagnon’s recent years included a hiatus from the media during 2024 and 2025 due to health issues and personal bereavement. His final professional appearances include a concluding column and a final appearance on the program Le 5 à 7.
