François Ruffin and Dominique de Villepin find common ground in 2027 election debate

Left-wing deputy François Ruffin and former Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin identified several areas of political convergence during a debate ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Despite their differing political backgrounds, the two men expressed a shared diagnostic of current issues and a common vision for the future.

Both figures stated a desire to prevent Marine Le Pen and the Rassemblement National from reaching the Elysée. They found common ground on international affairs, ecology, and the taxation of wealth. A notable point of disagreement involved de Villepin’s proposal for a reinvented carbon tax, which Ruffin did not support.

Ruffin, leader of the Debout! party, has already launched his candidacy, while de Villepin has not yet officially declared his intentions for 2027.
