François Saldanha dies after traffic accident in Quixeramobim

François Saldanha, a 67-year-old city councilor in Quixeramobim, Ceará, has died following a traffic accident. The collision occurred on the CE-060 highway involving Saldanha’s vehicle and a pickup truck carrying containers of green paint.

The impact caused the paint to spill, covering the driver of the pickup truck in green liquid. The accident also involved a nearby motorcycle, resulting in injuries to a motorcyclist and a passenger.

Saldanha was hospitalized in serious condition at the Hospital Regional do Sertão Central. He passed away after five days of hospitalization. Reports indicate that following the collision, Saldanha had been arrested for driving under the influence, though he was later granted provisional liberty while undergoing medical treatment.

The Quixeramobim City Council issued a note of condolence, praising Saldanha’s legacy of service and his contributions to the municipality, where he had previously served as president of the council.
