Franz Kafka’s Work Examined in New Literary Commentary

Two recent pieces explore the lasting relevance of Franz Kafka’s writing. One article uses Kafka’s novella *The Metamorphosis* as a vivid allegory for modern workplace alienation, describing how the protagonist Gregor Samsa’s transformation into an insect reflects the dehumanising pressures of a demanding job and the fear of being labelled an absentee.

Another commentary focuses on a frequently cited Kafka quotation – “Some things are achieved only by deliberately taking a leap in the opposite direction.” It investigates the uncertain provenance of the line, links it to recurring themes of reversal and surrender in Kafka’s stories, and places the sentiment alongside broader philosophical ideas from Jung to Taoist thought.

Both pieces underline how Kafka’s exploration of bureaucracy, identity and counter‑intuitive action continues to resonate across cultures and disciplines.
