Franz Liszt's musical legacy highlighted by new album and biography

The musical legacy of Franz Liszt is highlighted through both new recordings and historical scholarship. Pianist Yulianna Avdeeva has released a high-resolution album titled ‘Metanoia’ via PentaTone, which explores Liszt’s late-period works. The album focuses on his transition from a virtuoso to a musical philosopher, featuring compositions such as the Piano Sonata in B Minor and various other works that reflect existential themes.

In addition to contemporary performances, the historical contributions of Lina Ramann are noted. A self-taught musician from Bavaria, Ramann authored the first three-volume biography of Liszt between 1880 and 1894. Her scholarship was highly valued by Liszt himself and continues to influence modern perspectives on his life and musical evolution.
