Fraport Greece regional airports see 5.1% passenger increase
Fraport Greece reported a significant increase in passenger traffic across its 14 regional airports in August 2026. A total of 7.1 million passengers were processed, representing a 5.1% increase compared to August 2025.
Key drivers of this growth included strong international traffic, which rose by 5%. Notable performance was seen at airports in Corfu, Thessaloniki, Rhodes, Chania, Kefalonia, Mykonos, and Skiathos. Notably, Corfu Airport exceeded 1 million passengers in a single month. Despite geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, traffic from that region increased by 20.6%.
While passenger numbers rose, the average load factor decreased to 86.9% from 88.1% the previous year. This decline is attributed to an increased supply of seats resulting from airlines utilizing larger aircraft and expanding flight networks.
At Kefalonia Airport, passenger traffic saw a 12.4% increase, reaching 237,637 passengers in August 2026. This growth was primarily driven by international traffic, which rose by 13.8% to 213,324 passengers, while domestic traffic saw a slight increase of 1.2%.
