Greek airports record 5% passenger growth in H1 2026

Passenger traffic at Greek airports rose by about 5% in the first half of 2026. The total number of passengers at the 39 commercial airports reached 33,964,132, up from 32,358,875 a year earlier, while aircraft movements increased 4.6% to 265,798 flights.

The 24 airports managed by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (UPA) saw a stronger 6.2% rise, handling 4,778,208 passengers compared with 4,497,485 in the same period of 2025. The state airport of Heraklion recorded the highest monthly increase in June, up 2.1% to 1,425,494 passengers.

Fraport‑managed regional airports carried 5.6 million passengers in June 2026, a 4.7% increase over June 2025, driven mainly by a rebound in international traffic, especially from the Middle East and Israel.
