Fraser Bohm trial delayed over nitrous oxide canister theory

The trial of Fraser Bohm, a 24-year-old accused of killing four Pepperdine University students in a high-speed BMW crash in Malibu, has been delayed following a new theory introduced by prosecutors.

Prosecutors allege that a 10- to 12-pound nitrous oxide canister was located on Bohm’s lap at the time of the accident, potentially serving as a distraction. While the prosecution does not intend to argue that Bohm was actively inhaling the gas, Judge Thomas Rubinson noted that a pressurized tank of that size could be distracting to a driver.

Defense attorney Alan Jackson requested a delay to allow the legal team to conduct a thorough investigation of the canister. This process includes inspecting the tank, reviewing its chain of custody, and analyzing blood swabs found on the object. The defense indicated that the initial inspection and analysis could take three to four weeks.
