Fraser McReight wins John Eales Medal as Australia's best rugby player

Wallabies flanker Fraser McReight has been awarded the John Eales Medal, recognizing him as Australia's best rugby player for the 2026 season. The prestigious honor is determined by a ballot of Wallabies players following each Test match.

McReight, a Queensland Reds player, becomes the first from his state to win the award since Chris Latham in 2006. In addition to the top honor, McReight was named Defender of the Year, noted for his performance in a match against France where he recorded 19 tackles and two tries.

Other Rugby Australia award recipients include Faitala Moleka, named Wallaroos Player of the Year, and Treyvon Pritchard, named rookie of the year. Paula Watkins received the inaugural Peter Meagher Spirit of Rugby Award for her community service.
