Frasers Group increases stake in Burberry to 7.42%
Frasers Group has increased its financial exposure to the British luxury brand Burberry to 7.42% of its voting rights, up from 6.32% earlier this month. According to regulatory filings, the position is held entirely through sold put options, representing 27 million voting rights. If these options are exercised, Frasers may acquire the underlying shares.
This move is part of a broader expansion into the luxury sector by Frasers Group. The company recently unveiled Frasers Group Luxury, a new division intended to consolidate its luxury interests, including Flannels, Harvey Nichols, and The Webster. Frasers has also been active with other brands, having increased its stake in German fashion group Hugo Boss to nearly 50% and acquiring Harvey Nichols out of administration.
While Burberry’s share price has faced pressure over the last year, the company has reported a turnaround effort under CEO Josh Schulman, noting a 5% rise in comparable sales in the quarter ending June 2026.
