Fratelli d’Italia launches campaign against Islamic integralism
The Fratelli d’Italia party has launched a national campaign titled ‘Nessuna resti nascosta’ (No one remains hidden) to support a legislative proposal aimed at curbing the spread of Islamic integralism. The initiative includes a signature collection drive to back the bill currently before Parliament.
The proposed legislation includes several key measures: a ban on full-face veils in public places, stricter sanctions for arranged marriages, a prohibition on the issuance of virginity certificates, and increased transparency regarding the financing of places of worship. Additionally, the proposal seeks to allow for the temporary closure of religious sites that promote ideas of superiority or incite hatred.
Promoters of the campaign state that the measures are intended to protect women's rights, ensure gender equality, and prevent religious separatism. The initiative follows recent government decrees banning the burqa and niqab in school classrooms.
