Tirrenia: Proposal to revive Ciclilandia educational park

The Fratelli d'Italia party circle of the Pisa coast has proposed a project to revive Ciclilandia in Tirrenia. The initiative aims to restore the site's educational vocation by involving institutions, schools, associations, and law enforcement to create a space where children can learn about rules and mutual respect.

Originally established in 1965 as the Velodromo Plebe by Francesco Plebe and later renamed Ciclilandia in 1971 under his son Ciro Plebe, the park featured four kilometers of tracks, traffic signals, and up to 150 pedal vehicles. The site was historically known as a practical school for road safety education, famously featuring ‘mini-vigili’—children who, in uniform, learned and helped enforce traffic rules in collaboration with the Tirrenia Carabinieri.

Local official Virginia Mancini noted that the former Ciclilandia was dedicated to Ciro Plebe on June 19, 2026, recognizing his role as a pioneer in youth road safety education. Proponents of the revival seek to modernize and pass this educational experience on to new generations.
