Fraud cases reported in Brazil involving online marketplaces and dating apps

Authorities in Brazil are investigating two separate fraud cases involving digital transactions. In Arapongas, Paraná, a buyer lost R$ 6,500 after falling victim to a fake intermediary scam on an online marketplace. A criminal impersonated a vehicle seller during the negotiation of a Volkswagen Golf, leading the buyer to transfer the funds via Pix to the fraudster's account.

In Rio de Janeiro, the Civil Police indicted a man for sentimental fraud after he used a relationship established on Tinder to deceive a victim. The suspect allegedly promised the victim a job as a parliamentary secretary in exchange for a fee. The victim transferred R$ 1,300 via Pix for a non-existent position. Police are using bank records and chat histories to build the case.
