Fraud convict arrested in Bali during family vacation

Authorities have arrested Firman Handoko, a convict wanted for a Rp50 billion fraud case, while he was vacationing with his family in the Bedugul area of Tabanan Regency, Bali.

The arrest was a joint operation between the Attorney General's Office Adhyaksa Monitoring Center (AMC) team and the Bali High Prosecutor's Office Intelligence Team. Following a Supreme Court cassation ruling on February 27, 2024, Handoko was sentenced to two years and seven months in prison for fraud under Article 378 of the Criminal Code.

The pursuit spanned multiple provinces, beginning in Jakarta and moving through Yogyakarta and Sidoarjo, East Java. After tracking him to Banyuwangi, the team followed his movement to Bali via the Ketapang Port. Handoko was apprehended at a restaurant in Bedugul without resistance and has been transferred to the Denpasar District Prosecutor's Office to serve his sentence.
