Separate fraud incidents targeting individuals have been reported in Argentina and Mexico.
In 25 de Mayo, Argentina, a 32-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly stealing more than 4 million pesos from her 65-year-old neighbor. The suspect reportedly photographed the victim's credit card details while pretending to help her with a mobile credit recharge. Authorities seized a mobile phone during a raid to investigate the fraudulent purchases and loans made using the stolen information.
In Santiago, Nuevo León, Mexico, an elderly woman was defrauded of over 30,000 pesos through a fake hotel reservation website. The victim made four electronic transfers to a phone number found online, believing she was booking a room. Upon arrival at the actual hotel, she discovered no reservation existed and that the contact information used was fraudulent. Local authorities have opened an investigation into the matter.
