Fraud incidents reported in Merville and Val-de-Marne

Two separate fraud incidents have been reported in France involving significant financial losses.

In Merville, a man was victimized during the sale of his vehicle. After advertising the car on a classifieds website for 6,000 euros, a buyer met him to complete the transaction in cash. The seller later discovered that out of all the 50-euro notes provided, only one was authentic, while the rest were counterfeit. A complaint has been filed with the gendarmerie as investigators attempt to identify the buyer.

In Val-de-Marne, a 79-year-old collector was targeted in a sophisticated scam in Villejuif. An individual posing as a plumber arrived at the victim's home, followed by two individuals dressed as police officers. Using the guise of a technical intervention and authority, the group gained access to the victim's collection. They stole approximately 1,800 collectible coins and medals, with the total loss estimated to exceed 110,000 euros. An investigation is currently underway.
