Fraudulent schemes target residents in Brittany, France

Various fraudulent schemes are targeting residents in the Brittany region of France, specifically in the Ille-et-Vilaine department.

In one instance, scammers are using sophisticated fake websites that mimic legitimate merchants to sell firewood. These fraudulent sites are designed to look nearly identical to trusted local businesses, leading unsuspecting consumers to pay for goods they never receive. One resident reported losing 204 euros after being deceived by a well-designed interface.

In a separate incident in Fougères, scammers are exploiting the distress of pet owners. After a resident lost their cat, they were contacted via SMS and directed to a website called Pet911. The scheme involves directing people to a platform that appears legitimate but is used to solicit payments under the guise of helping locate lost animals.
