Frauenkirche Dresden marks 300 years since foundation stone laying

The Frauenkirche Dresden is marking the 300th anniversary of its foundation stone laying, which occurred on August 26, 1726. Designed by architect George Bähr, the baroque landmark features a massive sandstone dome weighing over 12,000 tons.

To commemorate the milestone, the SG Dynamo Dresden football club is collaborating with the Frauenkirche Dresden Foundation. On August 26, 2026, the club will host a special event at the church involving professional and women's teams, club executives, and legends. The partnership aims to foster community engagement under the motto ‘Peace in our spaces’ and the biblical verse ‘Seek the best for the city’.
