Germany drives AI and robotics forward in research, industry and education

A series of AI‑focused events and initiatives across Germany highlight the country’s expanding role in the technology sector. The Fraunhofer Institutes will open their doors at Stuttgart’s science festival on 27 June, showcasing AI, robotics, bio‑fabrication and an autonomous shuttle. At the same time, the DGMKG congress in Berlin (30 Oct–1 Nov 2025) will examine AI and virtual‑reality applications in oral‑ and maxillofacial surgery, while the city of Heilbronn will host a two‑day AI festival in July featuring live demos for public administration.

Industry projects also underline the momentum. A collaborative WAAM robot with 16 synchronized axes has been installed at BTU Cottbus‑Senftenberg for large‑scale additive manufacturing, and the EU‑funded FlexCycle consortium is developing AI‑driven robots to handle flexible materials in recycling streams such as fuel‑cell membranes, textiles and cables. The KI‑Challenge in Karlsruhe will bring construction firms together with Fraunhofer IOSB to explore AI solutions for safety and efficiency on building sites.

Educational and market‑oriented programmes complement the technical work. The GMW conference on higher‑education transformation will discuss AI‑enabled curricula, while Gum Gum introduced a Mindset Agent that uses AI to generate contextual audience segments for advertising. The GWS trade‑day highlighted AI as a strategic factor for wholesale, and Euratex re‑elected its president, emphasizing AI, digitalisation and sustainability for the European textile sector. Additional analyses from Invidis point to under‑covered AI topics such as cybersecurity, sustainability and governance in digital signage, and a UK‑based dpa‑Akademie seminar will train PR professionals to co‑create with AI.

Collectively, these initiatives illustrate Germany’s multi‑layered push to integrate artificial intelligence into research, manufacturing, services and education.
